The waters surrounding the Sunda Islands are exotic and still vastly unexplored. The crystal clear blue waters abound in a myriad of spectacular marine life offering some of the most fascinating to be found in the underwater world. Scientists have confirmed that this region is the heartland of marine life and diving here is simply spectacular.

Komodo Island is considered to be one of the richest coral reef areas in the country and is one of the most extravagant dive locations in the world. Because of the strong tidal flow, these turbulent waters are nutrient rich and teeming with unparalleled marine life. Various shark species, manta rays, bumperhead parrotfish along with schooling fish such as rainbow runners, bigeye trevallies, and surgeon fish are commonly seen. Dolphins, green sea, hawksbill and loggerhead turtles are present year round. Migrating whales and whale sharks can be found at certain times as well.

This legendary island is home to to the only place in the world where the Komodo "dragon" still lives and roams freely. The Komodo dragons are survivors of the prehistoric carnivores that thrived in tropical Asia some 100 million years ago. Land excursions will be arranged to view these extraordinary creatures.

You will visit traditional villages with their warm and friendly people, who still retain their own unique cultures, religions and languages, enjoy the beauty of unspoiled and deserted white sand beaches and of course dive the warm, blue waters filled with brilliant marine gardens, spectacular coral reefs and a variety of colorful tropical fishes.

Deep Discoveries is pleased to offer you two fine Liveaboard Dive boats, the Baruna Adventurer and Peter Hughes Komodo Dancer.
