Osa Peninsula Land TouringCosta Rica
The Osa Peninsula located on the Pacific's southwest coast, is a beautiful, remote and unexplored region of Costa Rica. Corcovado, the last remaining virgin rainforest in Central America is located here, and National Geographic has described the Osa Peninsula as " The Most Biologically Intense Place on Earth." Contrasting the lush green jungle foliage, the Osa has countless secluded golden sandy beaches, hidden amongst rugged volcanic outcroppings and warm waters teeming with ocean life. Here are just a sample of some of the many optional tours available in the Osa. Corcovado National Park One of the few remaining virgin rain forests left in the world, Corcovado National Park is considered to be the most species-rich park in Central America. More than 500 species of trees, 367 species of birds, 140 of mammals, 117 of reptiles/amphibians and 40 species of freshwater fish make Corcovado their home. Exploration of this amazing area is a must.
Dolphin Encounters Our newest tour in Drake Bay offers you the excitement of snorkelling in the ocean with some of the most intelligent and playful of all marine mammals, the dolphin. During this once-in-a-lifetime experience you will have the chance to observe huge pods of dolphins, whales and other sea life in their natural aquatic environment. We often find ourselves surrounded by hundreds of dolphins as they display amazing aerial behaviors such as jumping, spy hopping and leaping. When it is safe and the dolphins are willing, we will get into the water with them. If the water is not right or the dolphins are not cooperating we can still enjoy watching them as they jump, glide and play as they feed.
Canopy Tour Our exciting canopy tour offers you a unique view of this lush primary rain forest. Discover its rich diversity of wildlife high above the jungle floor. Our canopy tour features 6 platforms, 4 traverse cables, with one spanning over 210 feet (70 meters), a 65 foot (21 meter) high observation bridge and an exhilarating rappel ending your tour at the edge of a picturesque river bend. An experience you don't want to miss.
Horseback Riding Join us for a beautiful horseback ride through the jungle-lined trails of the Osa. We use 14 of Costa Rica's sturdiest breeds to take you to remote locations in the rainforest. We offer full day rides on a variety of trails specifically chosen to thrill the novice or the most ardent of cowboys.
Caño Island Just a 45 minute boat ride from Drake Bay, Caño Island is home to some of the most abundant and varied marine life in the area and offers excellent scuba diving and snorkelling. Found only in Costa Rica, the island also possesses several pre-Colombian archaeological artifacts that can be viewed in the lush tropical vegetation. The perfectly spherical stones are believed to have once marked an offshore ceremonial site for the indigenous peoples of the area.
Hiking The Osa Peninsula is a hikers paradise. You can take an all day hike to Corcovado National Park or depart on a leisurely stroll along the beautiful deserted beaches. Behind the resort, there are several trails that lead into the rainforest, providing an excellent opportunity to view the tropical flora and fauna that is so plentiful in the area. There are also several spectacular waterfalls, just a few hours hike from the resort.
