Kapalai Island is a beautiful sandbank a few miles off the coast of east Borneo, just 15 minutes from famous Sipadan Island on the spectacular Ligitan Reefs. Divers come from around the world to marvel at the amazing amazing array of small, often yet-to-be-classified, shamelessly colorful subjects. The macro life makes the diving here an unforgettable experience, and any discerning photographer will find the waters filled with uniques species found only in the Indo-Pacific. Diving at Kapalai is extremely easy and shallow but very spectacular, and it is not uncommon to see turtles and other colourful reef fish swimming above the reefs.
