Dubbed the "The World's Largest Fish Trap," the Sea of Cortez is home to over 800 species of fish and 2,000 species of invertebrates. The Sea of Cortez does not have 100 feet plus visibility or year-round warm water temperatures, but the water is rich in nutrients and supports a wide variety of large sea animals.

You'll have the opportunity to encounter the "Big Guys" when diving in La Paz. Resident hammerheads, whale sharks, manta rays, sea lions and marlin are very common at the dive sites in and around La Paz. It is truly an amazing experience to dive into a whirlpool of hundreds of jacks, snorkel with a 40-foot whale shark, dive with frolicking sea lion pups or to be surrounded by giant manta rays.
